Why CircleSFR measures circles, not slanted edges
It started with Richard Baer's 2004 circular-edge paper and the case he made to our imaging team at what became Aptina. The circle super-samples the pixel grid better than a slanted edge, and it separates sagittal from tangential MTF the way lens designers actually simulate them.
